Warzone's Latest Sniper Rifle Gets Preemptive Nerf Before Release
The powerful new AMR Mod 4 sniper rifle has received a pre-emptive nerf in Call of Duty: Warzone before players could even get their hands on it.

The weapon, which is the first new sniper since launch, promises to be a formidable addition to the game's arsenal. Activision describes it as capable of "one-shot elimination across the upper body not accounting for armor," balanced by slow aim speed and heavy recoil.

Key Changes in Today's Update:
- The AMR Mod 4's CHF Barrel attachment has been disabled to prevent it from becoming overpowered
- Akimbo Saug SMG and COR 45 pistol restrictions have been removed
- Audio improvements include increased enemy footstep volume and decreased first-person footstep sounds
- Reduced environmental reverb effects on all footstep sounds

The CHF Barrel's removal is particularly significant as it would have provided additional headshot damage, potentially making the semi-automatic sniper too dominant in Battle Royale and Resurgence modes. This preemptive adjustment aims to maintain competitive balance in Warzone's gunfights.
The audio changes address long-standing community concerns about footstep detection, making it easier to hear approaching enemies while reducing the volume of players' own movement sounds.
Players can unlock the AMR Mod 4 through the Archie's Festival Frenzy event, which is now live in the game.
