Perplexity introduces "Buy with Pro," a new AI-powered shopping assistant that enables direct purchases within search results for Pro subscribers ($20/month). The feature offers one-click shopping with saved payment information and includes free shipping.

The shopping assistant provides comprehensive product comparisons, including prices and features, directly in search results. Unlike Google Shopping, Perplexity currently doesn't earn commission from purchases, though this may change in the future.

Perplexity combines AI-generated responses with real-time web data, positioning itself between Google Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT Search. While it doesn't yet offer multi-step task automation, the shoppable search feature could be a stepping stone toward autonomous shopping capabilities.

For retailers, Perplexity launched a Merchant Program allowing them to:

• Increase chances of product recommendations
• Access purchasing data analytics
• Maintain user privacy (no sharing of specific browsing habits)
