In Dota 2's Patch 7.38, Techies can now solo Roshan using an unexpected mine strategy. This significant gameplay change comes as part of a major update that has transformed the game's map and mechanics.

The patch introduces a new Roshan movement pattern where he walks between two pits across the mid lane every five minutes. This regular movement creates an opportunity for Techies players to set up deadly mine traps along Roshan's path.

Key changes:

  • Roshan now walks between pits instead of teleporting
  • His movement path crosses the mid lane
  • The river has been expanded, flooding the old Roshan pit
  • Players can see Roshan's respawn timer

The strategy works through mine stacking, where each mine increases the damage of subsequent explosions. This allows Techies to secure an Aegis of the Immortal without help from teammates.

The community expects balance adjustments to address this tactic, possibly including increased magic and physical resistance for Roshan during his movement phase. While Roshan already has some protective measures, further tweaking may be necessary to prevent this exploit.

Patch 7.38 represents one of the most comprehensive updates to Dota 2, featuring extensive changes to:

  • Map layout
  • Hero abilities
  • Item systems
  • Core gameplay mechanics
