The Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major marks a historic moment as the first Major tournament to be held in Asia, featuring 24 teams competing for glory in one of China's largest cities.

The tournament structure consists of three stages:

  • Opening Stage: Begins November 30
  • Elimination Stage: December 5-15 (featuring 16 teams)
  • Playoffs: Single-elimination format

A notable controversy emerged when the fourth-place decider matches were canceled mid-tournament. As a result, team seeding for the Elimination Stage will be determined by Valve Regional Standings rather than RMR performance.

Regional Qualification Breakdown:

  • Americas RMR: Complete
  • Asia RMR: Complete
  • European RMR: In progress
    • MOUZ secured first direct spot to Elimination Stage
    • Europe has 8 direct qualification spots available

The tournament maintains the traditional Major format with two Swiss Stages followed by single-elimination playoffs. This Shanghai Major represents a significant shift in Counter-Strike's competitive landscape, bringing top-tier competition to the Asian region for the first time in Major history.
